Amber Valley Saga is a multi-timeline historical novel set in and around Amber Valley, Alberta, one of Western Canada’s most significant Black pioneer communities. The narrative follows an early 20th-century settlement arc alongside a present-day return, where family, land, and buried history begin calling descendants back north.
This project blends archival research, oral history, and literary storytelling to illuminate a prairie story that is often overlooked, while keeping the work emotionally intimate and character-driven. The book is paired with curated supporting materials that help situate readers in the world: photographs, community context, and research notes that deepen the sense of place.
